The Similipal-Kuldiha-Hadgarh Elephant Reserve popularly known as Mayurbhanj Elephant Reserve in the State of Orissa was notified vide Notification No.15806 dt.29.09.2001 and revised vide No.18639 dt.28.11.2001 of Forest and Environment Department, Government of Orissa comprising an area of 7043.04 km2. The area includes 3 protected areas i.e. Similipal Tiger Reserve (2750.00 km), Hadgarh Wildlife sanctuary (191.06 km) and Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary (272.75 km). Other Reserve Forests, Protected Forests, Private land and Revenue land including agricultural land lying adjacent to the protected areas measuring 3571.26 km are included in the Reserve to form a compact area of the landscape.
